Community Quilts

Picture
Our Guild donates crib or lap-size quilts that are in turn given to the more than 300 children and moms a year, who pass through a variety of shelters.  See more.

Creating a Community Quilt: FABRIC:  100% cotton appropriate for kids from toddler to teen.  If you don’t have material for the back, Community Quilts has fabric that can be used for backs.  Tops only are OK.

SIZE:   Although there are no hard and fast rules, it is easiest if the width is no more than width of fabric!  So, general measurements are width of fabric and 50-60″ long.

Fabric and batting are available at Westminster Presbyterian Church on the last Monday of each month, during the work sessions which are 10 am - 2 pm

Friendship Blocks

Picture
Each month 3-4 members present a friendship block.  Members makes blocks for these individuals and turn them in.  Quilts are then created from the blocks.  The Friendship block Exchange Program is a great way to get to know other members and to learn new skills.  All members in good standing are welcome to participate in the program but participation is optional.

Wearable Art Divas

Our mission is innovative use of textiles and surface design in wearable art clothing.  Many of the same construction and ornamentation techniques used in traditional quilting are used in art clothing.  Divas not only produce clothing but also accessories.  Our meetings are planned to challenge our innovation and learn from one another and guest programs.  We employ an emphasis on sharing but we also plan challenges.  We also have a great deal of fun!  We meet on the fourth  Monday at the Salvation Army Building from 10 - 12.

Art Quilters

Picture
The Art Quilters have demos/mini-classes to explore various techniques and methods of cutting, piecing, embellishing, layering, quilting, etc.  As much fun as we have broadening our horizons, our favorite part of each meeting in Show and Share.  The emphasis on Share.  We are eager to show everybody else.  We meet at the Salvation Army from 12:15 to 2 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month.

Sunshine

Sunshine is our Guild's way of delivering encouragement and cheer to fellow members.  The chair depends on members to inform her of needs within the guild.  Please take a moment to let the chair know if you hear of a member who could use a little cheer.

Quilt Racks

The Guild has a large quantity of wooden Quilt Racks for displaying quilts.  These are available for rental to other guilds,  organizations and individuals, who are known associates of current Guild members. See more.   Click here for quilt rack rental form.
