Call for artwork for Birds of a Fiber 2025!​

Once again, it is time to invite avid birders and fiber artists alike to participate in the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum’s Birds of a Fiber exhibition, running
January 22 – March 23, 2025.

In 2018, then Executive Director Amy Green created a group exhibition with calls to local artists to submit fiber art works depicting birds to go along with a birding festival put on in
La Conner with the Chamber of Commerce.

The first exhibition featured 25 works by local artists. Last year, 2024’s Birds of a Fiber had over 160 submissions and contained 64 selections from all over the world including Canada, Australia, Japan, Belgium, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and all over the United States.

The geography and ecosystems around La Conner and the Skagit Valley in particular provide an authentic experience for avid birders. The combination of farmland, wetland, prairie, forest, and marine biomes provide homes for a wide variety of birds, making the Skagit Valley specifically a fantastic place for novice and experienced birders alike.

The exhibition usually contains not just quilts, but fiber art sculptures and many other kinds of textiles that represent birds in the Pacific Northwest.

Entry submissions must be received by
December 6, 2024, 5 PM PT.

Artists will be notified of acceptance by December 20, 2024.

Include 2 high resolution photos:
1 full view, 1 detail view. Specify title of piece, year created, media and technique used.

Attach completed submission form – (CLICK HERE TO OPEN)  

Additional Information:
  • Do not submit art that has been previously displayed at the museum
  • Each artist is limited to ONE entry.
  • The Artist is responsible for both delivery and return shipping costs
  • Entry submissions must be received by December 6, 2024.
  • Artists will be notified of acceptance by December 20.
  • Artwork must arrive at the museum January 6 - 10, 2025.
  • Additional shipping instructions, packing slip and loan form will be provided with acceptance notification.

Birds of a Fiber will be displayed from January 22 - March 23, 2025!

​Sew and Sits, Quilt classes and retreats

How to host a Sit and Sew? Find a place with great lighting, capacity for plugging in multiple outlets, tables and invite members. If there is a charge for the room or place, we recommend letting members know and splitting the cost.

-Sit and Sew hosted by Julie Anderson No December sit and sew. Bring whatever is needed to work on your project, your lunch and beverage. There is no microwave. ​You are invited to the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild 2024 Challenge Quilt Show: "I Heard It on the Radio"
Members were challenged to use a favorite song as inspiration to create a modern quilt. The show includes 39 quilts representing many genres of music, including classical, jazz, rock, old standards, and hip hop.
