Fiq Quilt Guild Challenges

President's Challenge
Soo excited to see everyone’s interest in doing the challenge with me!  As we get started, I think you will realize that it can be whatever you make of it!  From beginner to advanced, the choices you make for yourself will determine what comes out of it!!  There really are no rules, it is should be fun and challenging, that’s it!!  Also, anyone can join at any time, you just may have to play catch up a little, so even if you weren’t at the first meeting, you can join in!!

  1. Think about color scheme      Monochromatic – one color
Triadic – equally spaced (red, yellow, blue) (orange, violet, green)
Complementary – opposite
Analagous – 3 adjacent colors
  1. Choose fabrics (3 or 4 to start)         Can by from our donation fabric  -  add more from stash
  2. Different technique/block each month          February – star block
  3. Type of quilt suggestions       Row by Row
Sampler
Medallion
Personal design
Just for clarification!  This is a challenge, meant to personally challenge each person regardless of their quilting abilities, you choose what you want to accomplish!!!
CHALLENGE yourself to think about color and choose fabrics accordingly!
CHALLENGE yourself to a technique or type of block you have never done before!
CHALLENGE yourself by deciding what your final goal for the quilt might be.  Make one of each block for a sampler, or three or more for a row quilt.  Make different stars this month for a more advanced sampler or just because you like a star block or discovered more that challenged you!  Make a mariners compass star and challenge yourself to use the next month’s techniques/blocks just for the borders of a medallion quilt!

NO RULES!   JUST CHALLENGES!!!    Any questions, feel free to ask!  Bring your finished block to the meeting and we will hold them up to show off our progress!  Have fun!!

I will have a sign up next month so that I know who is participating!
